Aspirants must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. ICAO emphasises the implementation, comprehension and standardisation of all elements to ensure that every pilot achieves a minimum English Language Proficiency Level 4, recognised across all member states.

Pilots must also be proficient in using aeronautical radios, communicating clearly, concisely, and effectively for radio telephony and all other aviation-related operations. (See more: Circular 2019)
